Walden

More summer than fall with beauty still abundant. Yesterday the Freedom Trail, a walk in Boston, overnight with friends, Lucinda and Clarisse. And then to Concord. It all still lingers:

blue and emerald green
the depths of love and peace in trees
on Waldon Pond today

almost Spring
south of the equator
we look to Fall

summer still

summer crescendo
from every there and here
cicadas refrain

In Russia Honey Spas is celebrated on August 14. This is the day on which the honey is blessed. Honey Spas marks the beginning of honey harvest. According to common belief, it is the day when swallows leave for the winter. This is considered to be a sign that summer is leaving. Vacant swallow nests resemble honey combs. Swallows are the birds, that according to the myth tried to spare Christ from suffering on the cross for a long time, and cried that he is already dead. Spas means saviour. There are three holidays called Spas. Each of them is dedicated to one sacred part of the cross. August 14 is also the day on which according to the legend Russia was christened.

Summer Energy

I'm posting this on behalf of Andrei Dorian Gheorghe of the Romanian Society of Astronomy and Meteors who has written as follows:

Dear Gerald:
On July 28-30 I was in a mountain place (Crasna-Covasna) at SARM’s "Perseids" camp, where I coordinated an astropoetry show (with torches
signifying fireballs and with "princesses of astropoetry"). Among "live" readings, I read some astropoems by authors who were not there, including your May Dejagascar haiku.

Today I worked a summer piece with my fellow Gabriel Ivanescu. If you consider our summer piece is acceptable for the haiku project, and if you don't mind, please post it as you did a few months ago with our spring piece.
